Celebrating Cultures in Your Church

In today’s diverse and interconnected world, the church stands as a beacon of unity, a place where cultures from all walks of life can come together in worship and community. In this webcast, we’ll explore how celebrating cultures within your church not only enriches the experience of faith but also fosters understanding and appreciation among individuals from different backgrounds.

We will delve into the significance of recognizing and embracing the various cultures that make up your congregation. From the origins and journeys of these cultures to the vibrant nationalities and festivities they bring, we’ll discover how these elements deepen our shared faith.

We'll also explore how the diverse food traditions represent the unity in diversity, allowing us to break bread together in fellowship. Whether it’s through worship, festivals, or shared meals, your church can celebrate these rich cultural elements, creating a more inclusive and harmonious environment for all.

Join us as we take a closer look at the beauty of cultural celebration in your church and how it can enhance the spirit of community, connection, and worship.

Helping Second Generation Young Adults Thrive in Your Church

Moses Saldivar, presenter

Moses serves as the Director of Mobilization for Frontiers, a ministry focused on fulfilling the Great Commission by advancing discipleship and church planting among Muslim communities with little or no access to the Gospel. In this role, he leads Frontiers' efforts to inspire, equip, and empower the next generation of Goers to bring the hope of Christ to the least-reached corners of the world.

Previously, Moses served as the Director of Engagement for US Latino Churches, partnering with Hispanic/Latino congregations to help them become catalysts for global missions. Alongside this work, he leads as the Discipleship Director for the Hyphenated Gen, where he mentors individuals navigating multicultural identities and equips their advocates to walk alongside them effectively.

As both a practitioner and consultant in multicultural and diaspora church planting, Moses draws from years of experience and a deep understanding of these dynamic ministry spaces. He currently serves on the leadership team of a multicultural church plant, offering firsthand knowledge of the challenges and opportunities inherent in these contexts. Additionally, he consults and collaborates with churches and leaders seeking to engage in multicultural spaces, encouraging them to adopt global mission strategies domestically as part of their planting and engagement efforts. By fostering a strong sending culture in emerging churches, Moses helps bridge local efforts with the broader call to the nations.

Before joining Frontiers, Moses served bi-vocationally as part of the pastoral staff at his sending church while holding leadership roles in the financial services industry. Married for over a decade, he and his wife are raising three children, embracing the call to live out God’s mission both locally and globally.

How to Welcome New People (of another ethnicity or immigrants)

Immigration has never been a hotter topic than it is right now! America is largely polarized around political views. However, are these views informed and molded by the Bible? If we take Acts 17:26-27 seriously, then we must believe that God Himself creates the migration of peoples around the earth. If he has brought people to us, then He probably has something to say about how we as Christians should react and interact with them.

Bill Walker, presenter

Bill Walker is an ordained elder in the Evangelical Methodist Church. He grew up as a “missionary kid” in Bolivia, South America. He has served local churches as a pastor in Iowa and California. In 2001, he went with his wife Lisa to Mexico, where they served as missionaries in Mexico for six years. Upon returning to the US, Bill became involved in multicultural ministries with the EMC. Bill and his wife served as 2nd-generation pastors for seven years in the Athens Chinese Christian Church, near where they currently reside in Georgia. Bill and Lisa now co-direct the missions program for their denomination, which includes ministry in seven countries.
